GRADUATION INFORMATION

The following collection of useful information is specific to the PHHS Class of 2020. Specific details will not be finalized until March, 2020. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Danette Melott at 816-359-5542 or melottda@parkhill.k12.mo.us 

 

Graduation Letter

An informative letter regarding graduation will be mailed and emailed to all senior families in late March or early April. A copy of the letter will be posted here when it is sent to families.

Graduation Ceremony

The graduation ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, May 17, 2020 at Municipal Auditorium (301 W. 13th Street) at 5:00 pm. 

Seating Requests

We do not limit the number of guests a graduate may invite, but special seating may be requested for the handicapped or elderly. 

Spectator and Student Conduct

As a courtesy to others, the audience is requested to remain seated throughout the ceremony and to refrain from any loud or disruptive outbursts.

Student Attire for Graduation

In addition to the required cap and gown, gentlemen should wear a dress shirt, tie, dress pants (no jeans) , socks and dress shoes. Ladies should wear dresses, skirts, slacks (no jeans) and dress shoes.

SENIORS: Jostens will be here on Friday, February 28 in the wrestling gym during lunch to deliver graduation announcement orders. If you have a balance due please bring it at this time with cash or money order only. If you need to place a cap and gown order, please see the sales rep at this time. Please remember checks are no longer accepted as method of payment for your graduation order. 

February 28 and March 6 – Announcement Distribution:  Jostens will be at school to deliver graduation announcements on Friday, February 28 and Friday, March 6 during lunch.

March 24 – Senior Day of Service
: The Senior class spends the morning performing community services around the community provided by the school. We work with a variety of businesses in the area to set up service opportunities for our students to complete. The second half of the day is student lead community service, be looking for more information in the upcoming month.

April 9 and April 16 - Cap and Gown DistributionJostens will be at school to deliver cap and gown orders on Thursday, April 9 and Thursday, April 16 during lunch.  If your student has not yet ordered a cap and gown, or to arrange payment via credit card, call Jostens (816) 523-4900. Grads should try on their cap and gown immediately, then hang up the gown to diminish wrinkles.  

Sunday, April 19 - Senior Parents Reception: Join other proud senior parents for a reception on April 19th from 5:00-7:00pm in the school cafeteria to hear from principal, Dr. Kincheloe, and Senior Executive Sponsors, Morgan Corten and Sara Holmes. Each will share information you need to know and answer any questions you might have. The PTSA will serve a light supper, desserts and beverages. This is a parents-only event. Be watching your email for a formal invitation.  Bring your hankie with you for the 'Goodbye to 2020' video complete with photos and interviews from seniors, and your good luck for the PTSA drawing for a set of 10 Reserved Graduation Seats!!


Thursday, April 23 - Senior Awards: Senior Awards will be presented at a special program at 10:30 in the auditorium. Students receiving scholarships, grants and awards will be recognized by faculty and invited guests. Seniors are aware they need to advise Ms. Capra in room 109 by 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10th of their awards and scholarships so their information can be added to the program.

Graduation DVDs: The Park Hill Communications team will be recording the graduation ceremony. DVD orders will be available to purchase at Senior Parent Reception on April 19th. DVDs are $25 each and can be paid by cash, check or added to your student’s Infinite Campus fee account. DVDs will also be sold at the graduation ceremony or you can order by going to https://forms.gle/tHGkMYsTHH4fjtwTA . DVDs will be mailed in early July.

Saturday, April 25 – Junior/Senior Prom at Hilton KCI Hotel: Prom will be from 6:30 to 11:00 p.m. Dinner/dance tickets will be sold during lunch April 15 - 22: $50-seniors / $55-juniors & guests. Students bringing a guest must have a guest form completed and returned to the main office by Monday, April 20. Guest forms can be picked up in the main office and will be posted to Schoology. Guests must be under 21 years of age, have a completed and approved guest form, and bring their photo ID to be admitted into the dance.

 Sunday, April 26 – After Prom Party at Main Event:

After Prom is April 26, midnight to 3:00 a.m. at Main Event. After Prom Party is open to all seniors, juniors and their guests. Students don’t have to attend Prom to attend After Prom. Tickets will be $10 per person in advance and and will be sold during lunch from April 13 – 24.  Tickets will be $15 per person at the door. Drawings will also be held for gift baskets and prizes. Any student wishing to leave early will need a permission slip signed by a parent. Once a student leaves the venue they will not be allowed to re-enter.

Advanced Placement (AP) Test Dates

Advanced Placement Exams will begin on May 4 and continue through May 15, with make-up testing being May 20-22.

Senior Finals Schedule

Senior Fun Day:

The senior class has the opportunity to spend the day together outside of school before they go their separate ways. The event that will take place on this day will be determined in the upcoming months by the senior class.

Senior Breakfast:

On Friday of graduation practice Park Hill Senior Executive Council will be offering free breakfast for the senior class. This will take place in the cafeteria, before graduation practice.

Graduation Practice

All seniors who plan to participate in graduation will need to attend graduation practice. Caps and gowns are not needed for practice. Information coming in March. Stay tuned.
