PTA

Why PTA?

Kids are enrolled. Classes set. Supplies purchased. And plans are in place for a successful new school year. You're done right? Well, maybe. Have you signed up for the PHHS PTA?

You might be thinking my kids are in high school and there are no more holiday parties for room parents to plan. Why do I need to belong to the PTA? You're right that high school PTA is nothing like elementary PTA. There are many reasons to join.

PTA is an opportunity for parents, teachers and students to work together to ensure every high school student is college or career-ready upon graduation. No matter what grade your student is entering or the path they will take, getting ready starts now.

On this journey, PTA is the following:

  • A support system and positive advocate for students, teachers and parents.
  • A resource for topics related to the education, health and safety of our students.
  • A forum for discussion on issues of general concern between school, home and the larger community.
  • A link to timely information from local, state and federal levels on how we can advocate and influence legislators on behalf of kids, families and schools.

More than 30 years of research has proven that kids do better when parents are involved at home and at school. Grades are higher. Test scores rise. Self-esteem grows. Schools improve.

PHHS PTA helps parents learn and connect with what is going on at school in the classroom, clubs, sports and other activities, on and around campus. By joining PTA, you are a role model to your kids for the importance of advocacy in education. It's an opportunity to network and put your skills to work for a great cause - your kids, your school and your community.

When you join PHHS PTA, you are joining at the local, state and national level, adding your voice to thousands of others, advocating for our kids with one voice. When you join, you are not obligated to volunteer or attend meetings and events, although we hope you will!

There are three membership levels:

  • General: $13.00
  • Teacher/Staff/Administration: $6.50
  • Business: $50.00

To join, simply contact phhsptaprez@gmail.com. A membership card will be emailed to you. And membership has other benefits like special offers like those you can find here.

By the way, if you haven't purchased school supplies yet, consider purchasing them at Office Max and using School ID 70056668 to provide five percent back to Park Hill High School.

We hope you will consider joining us for the 2018-2019 school year. We look forward to working with you for our students, parents and teachers.

Sincerely,

Melinee Gorsuch
2018-2019 PHHS PTA President
